Can I play on ItsYourTurn.com for free? Yes, you may play on ItsYourTurn.com as long as you want to for free. There is no limit to how long you can play games on our site, but there is a limit to how many games you can play at one time. If you have 20 games in progress at one time, you can not start another. When you finish games and your number of games in progress drops below 20, then you can start more games.

You can read
more details about playing on our site as a non-member.

What can I do to help ItsYourTurn.com besides becoming a member?

How many games can I have in progress at one time if I am a member? You can play up to 150 tournament games and up to 100 non-tournament games at the same time. Unfortunately, extra games in one category cannot be transferred to the other category. Also, you may make an unlimited number of moves per day.

How many games can I have in progress at one time if I play for free as a non-member? You can have a total of 20 games in progress at the same time for free, which includes both tournament and non-tournament games in any combination. When you finish some games and your total drops below 20, then you can start some more games.

There's no time limit for this-- you can play for years without paying if you want. The only limit is on the number of games that you can have in progress at the same time.

If you advance to the later rounds of a tournament, and you're already playing 20 games, you will still receive those new games. However, you won't be able to start any new games until your total is less than 20 games.

Can I sign up for tournaments as a non-member? Yes, you can sign up for tournaments as a non-member, as long as you're under the 20-game limit.

Here are details about how the limit on number of games affects signing up for tournaments. Note that when you join a new tournament, each new game type that you enter gives you 6 games to play.

  • If you sign up for a new tournament and you have 20 or more games in progress when that new tournament starts, you will not be put in the new tournament.

  • If you sign up for a new tournament in 1 game type (just chess, for example) and you have fewer than 20 games in progress when that new tournament starts, then you will be put in that new tournament even if it sets your total games to more than 20. So, if you have 19 games in progress before the new tournament starts, you will have 25 games in progress after the new tournament starts. Then, you will not be able to join any more tournaments or start any more games until your total drops below 20 again.

  • If you sign up for a new tournament in more than 1 game type (chess and backgammon and reversi, for example) and you have fewer than 20 games in progress when that tournament starts, then you will be put into game types in that tournament until you have more than 20 total games. Once your total goes over 20 you will not be put in any more game types.

For example, suppose you have 12 games in progress and you sign up for a new tournament in 3 game types: chess, backgammon, and reversi. You will be put into 2 game types you signed up for. The 2 game types bring your total to 24. Since your total is then over 20, you are not put into the third game type.

You do not have control over which game types you are put into, if you are not put into all the you sign up for.

  • If a new tournament round starts (round 2 or 3 for example) and you should be in it, you will be put in it regardless of how many games you have in progress. This is another way that your total games in progress can be made to exceed 20.

Is there a limit on the number of turns per day I can make as a non-member? Yes, there is. The limit for non-members is 15 turns per day in all games.

Members are not affected by this restriction, and may make an unlimited number of moves.

Every day at 6 a.m. Eastern US time non-members will receive 15 moves for that day. Moves not used for that day will not be transferred to the following day.

To see how many moves you have left for the day, click on 'Edit user profile' under the ACCOUNT section in the left-hand menu. The number of moves you have left for the day will be shown in red at the top. It will also tell you how much time is left before you get more moves for the next day. (This display will only appear for non-members-- members can make an umlimited number of moves).

For information about becoming a member and lifting this restriction, click on the Become a member link under the ACCOUNT section in the left-hand menu.

How long will it take to become a member after I send in my payment? If you use a credit card using Google Payments or PayPal, it will take less than 15 minutes to activate your account. (With Google, that time is usually less than 2 minutes after your payment is approved).

If you mail in your payment, we activate your payment on the same day that we receive your mail.

In both cases, we will not charge your credit card or cash your check until your membership has been activated.

How can I tell how much time I have left on my membership? The number of days you have remaining in your membership is on your "Edit user profile" page under the ACCOUNT section on the left-hand side menu.

How do I renew my membership? Do you automatically renew memberships? We NEVER automatically renew your membership. Each membership payment has to be manually entered by you-- this ensures that each payment is authorized by you.

To renew your membership, click on the "Become a member!" link in the ACCOUNT menu on the left-hand side of your screen. From that page, you can purchase additional time just as you did when you originally joined the site.

The extra time you purchase will be ADDED to your existing membership. So you can renew as early as you want, and you will not lose any membership days that you've purchased.

If you're mailing us a check, we recommend that you mail it two weeks before your membership ends to avoid interruptions in your membership. Checks often take longer than a week to reach us.

For faster service, we highly recommend that you use one of the online methods to pay. Your membership is usually activated within 30 minutes when you pay online, and you will receive a receipt that allows us to track down your payment if we have problems crediting the correct account.

How can I pay for someone else's membership? To purchase a subscription for another player, pay for the membership using your own address and email address. What will happen is that your own membership will be extended by the amount that you purchase. When you get verification that we've received payment, email us at sales@itsyourturn.com and let us know the userid of the person that you want to transfer the membership to, and we will transfer that amount of time to them (we can usually do this within 1-2 business days).

When the membership is transferred, you will both receive a notice of the time transferred, as well as information about who paid for the membership and who it was transferred to. Also, you will not get a notice when their membership is about to expire, so you may want to keep track of that yourself if you're thinking about paying for their renewal.

We thank you for your generosity, on behalf of ItsYourTurn.com and on behalf of the receipient.

If I pay online by credit card, how do I know my credit card information is secure? Here are some of our security features:

We do not keep any credit card numbers on our site at all, so no one can find out your credit card information from us.

We use PayPal and Google to clear our payments. PayPal is owned by Ebay, and Google... well, hopefully you've heard of Google. Your credit card information is stored on THEIR computers (not ours), and these are both very secure and trustworthy companies, both with billion-dollar computer systems. Choose the one you trust the most-- you can use your credit card with either of these companies.

When you pay with PayPal or Google, we can't even see your credit card information. We here at ItsYourTurn.com never have access to it. And the information is never stored on our computers, so even if we do get hacked (and in the 8+ years we've been online our computers have never been hacked into) your credit card information is safely stored elsewhere.

Both payment sites are secure sites, which you will see on the page that you type in your information. You’ll see a key or padlock logo somewhere near the bottom of your screen. This means that the information you type in encrypted, and no one can read it while it's being transmitted through the Internet.

Visit the
main membership page to place your order with your credit card.

Then click on either the Google or PayPal buttons for whichever payment system you prefer. We prefer Google since your membership will be activated faster (within 2 minutes), but international orders will have to be placed through PayPal (and the order will be activated within 15 minutes).

Please email sales@itsyourturn.com if you have any questions about becoming a member.
